I have 18 years experience in HR: 14 years spent in senior HR leadership roles in the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO); and 5 years experience as an executive coach and independent consultant.

With a large mixed team of FCO HR staff,  contractors and large numbers of diplomats making short, sharp contributions, I devised and implemented a multi-strand learning and development programme that successfully transformed the quality of leadership and management in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Outcomes were measured by independent surveys of all staff on clarity of direction, inclusiveness, empowerment, learning and personal development, teamwork, performance management and change.  Learning activity increased significantly especially at leadership levels.

Five years ago, I moved into the private sector to run my own executive coaching and consultancy business. Although I had coached senior managers informally on personal and career development for many years, I wanted to deepen my coaching skills and offer clients high quality coaching.  I chose to study at Ashridge Business School because their programme was accredited by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council at master practitioner level.

After two years study and examination I qualified as an executive coach. I specialise in developing leaders, improving team performance, and helping leaders to deliver results through cross sector partnerships and engaging with multiple stakeholders. I am keen to offer clients quality coaching combined with the sharpness of real world practicality.

More recently, I co-authored Leadership PQ (Kogan Page 2014). It is my first book and I am delighted that it has been shortlisted by the Chartered Institute of Management for best book in the Management Futures category.

I work with clients in both the public and private sector. I can be trusted with confidential and sensitive information and I hold Developed Vetting clearance. When appropriate, I bring in other HR and Development specialists, all of whom share my professionalism and desire for excellence.
